Actinolite Restaurant, Toronto

Actinolite is a lovely neighbourhood resto in the north part of the now very popular Ossington Avenue neighbourhood. Everything is made in house, from the bread, cured olives for purees, to the ice cream. Herbs are harvested in their backyard and dried (when out of season). This is a resto I would definitely return to for a very satisfying meal.

Chanterelle Mushroom Soup, buttermilk, parsley and white truffle oil. Delicious!

Butternut squash ravioli, fresh ricotta cheese, swiss chard, brown butter/ lemon sage sauce, Parmigian cheese and black olive puree.

Pan seared scallop, parsley root puree, lemon/ porcini butter sauce, pickled mushrooms and confit chicken. A remarkable range of savory flavours combines well with the sweet scallop.

Ontario rack of lamb chop, pepper soffritto, salt cod and potato puree, roasted eggplant and bonito pine nut jus. This chef is highly imaginative in a very earthy way.

English steamed pudding with Earl Grey ice cream.
